“Mexico’s Image and the Media” by José Antonio Brambila Ramírez from Sheffield University.

This article explores the role the media plays in the contribution, dissemination, and magnification of Mexico’s bad image among domestic and foreign publics, particularly since the implementation of a frontal strategy against organized crime (2006-2012).  It argues that the focus of the U.S. media on negative developments in Mexico and the dominance of U.S. news outlets in the international coverage of Mexico helps explain an image that is at odds with domestic reality.
