by Editors

The October 2014 issue of the Internacionalistas Magazine, the magazine of COMEXI’s Youth Program, includes a series of articles and sources covering the foundations for Mexico’s international image and promotion strategies to manage it.

La edición de Octubre de 2017 de Internacionalistas, la revista del programa de jóvenes de COMEXI, incluye una serie de artículos sobre  la imagen de México en el mundo y estrategias para promover y controlar esta imagen.

“Mexico’s Image and the Media” by José Antonio Brambila Ramírez from Sheffield University.

This article explores the role the media plays in the contribution, dissemination, and magnification of Mexico’s bad image among domestic and foreign publics, particularly since the implementation of a frontal strategy against organized crime (2006-2012).  It argues that the focus of the U.S. media on negative developments in Mexico and the dominance of U.S. news outlets in the international coverage of Mexico helps explain an image that is at odds with domestic reality.
